Huatulco stretches 22 miles along nine bays between the Coyula and Copalita rivers. It lies about 300 miles east of Acapulo, but there are no bunched-up high-rise hotel strips to mar the scenery, just soft sands, clear ocean, striking cliffs and dense forest.New York Times
If you are athletic or simply enjoy adventure, then this Huatulco rafting tour is perfect for you! With sight seeing opportunities lost by other modes of transportation, this provides an excellent outlet for experiencing Huatulco. Offering both advanced and beginner level excursions Aventura Mundo's rafting tour is an excellent group activity.
As mentioned there are two package options available; Full Day (advanced) and Half Day (beginner). Both on the Copalita river which stems from the Sierra Madre and veers through the jungle before meeting up with the Pacific Ocean and La Bocana beach.
What distinguishes the two, apart from the length, is the sections you will be taken on, which provide different classes of rapids. (Both packages include insurance)
The shorter trip is a much more leisurely tour - more of a float trip - on the lower half of the river. You will begin the tour at your accommodations where the tour company will pick you and your group up in their air conditioned van.
First you will be taken to Village Copalita where you will be immersed in the true Mexican culture. Explore the town and learn about their environmental efforts to preserve the iguana population at the Iguanatarium.
Next you will be taken to the drop in spot and, after a quick safety overview, you will jump in your rafts and be on your way!
Listen to your guides as they direct you down the river and through the bird sanctuary. Relax as you take in views of incredible flora and wildlife.
By the end of the tour you will end up at La Bocana beach, known for its great surf waves. Here you can grab a bite to eat at one of the many fresh seafood restaurants before jumping back in the van and returning to your accommodations.
With this tour package you have the option of two sections depending on your skill level and desires:
Mostly class II and III rapids with some class IV. This action packed option creates a nice balance between sightseeing and adventure.
With class III and IV rapids this package will give you a guaranteed adrenaline rush. Staring from the Alemania coffee plantation, hence the name, you will be taken on a thrill ride that will require all hands on deck.
Both full day options include a meal and refreshments as well as round trip transportation to and from your accommodations.
$45 pesos per person
$80 pesos per person
Although there are other Huatulco rafting tours offered in town, it is highly recommended that you book through My Huatulco Vacation as they are in direct contact with the tour group, provide the best rates and, most importantly, insurance. Something not found through many local tour providers.
This rafting tour is suitable for all ages; however it is recommended that children bring their own life preservers as the ones provided locally are not the highest quality.
If you want to experience an action packed adventure while also getting in some quality sightseeing, than this Huatulco rafting tour is perfect for you!
